African Female Leader of the Year 2023

Koome's recognition as the joint winner in the African Female Leader category of the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Persons of the Year 2023 Awards is attributed to her efforts in enhancing access to justice, championing gender equality within the legal system, and driving judicial reforms to fortify the rule of law in Kenya. The ALM board emphasized that this acknowledgment reinforces Chief Justice Koome's standing as one of the continent's prominent figures, contributing to the promotion of African dignity and challenging negative perceptions about the continent.

The formal presentation of the instruments of honor for African Female Leader of the Year is scheduled to take place during the flagship annual 12th African Persons of the Year Awards Ceremony 2024. The event is slated for February 22 to February 23, 2024, at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme "Building Resilient African Economies."
